A group of animals in the forest were arguing about who was the smartest. The lion roared, “It’s me, of course! I’m the king!” The monkey chattered, “No, it’s me! I can climb trees and solve puzzles!” The elephant trumpeted, “Clearly, it’s me! I never forget anything!”
They argued for hours until a wise old owl, perched on a high branch, cleared his throat. “Friends,” he hooted, “I believe I can settle this debate. Let’s ask the human.”
They found a human sitting by a campfire, staring intently at a small, glowing rectangle in their hand.
The lion, monkey, and elephant approached cautiously. “Excuse me, human,” said the owl, “we are trying to determine who is the smartest animal. What do you think?”
The human looked up, blinked, and then immediately went back to staring at their device. After a long silence, the human finally mumbled, without looking away, “Just five more minutes… I’m almost at the next level of Candy Crush.”
The owl turned to the other animals, a knowing look in his eyes. “Well,” he hooted, “I think we have our answer. The smartest animal is the one who knows when to put down the screen and go to sleep!”
