A hiring manager was interviewing a young man for a position at a large company.
“So,” said the manager, “In this job, we need someone who is very responsible. Can you tell me if you fit that description?”
The young man sat up straight and said, “Yes, sir, I am extremely responsible.”
The manager was pleased. “Excellent. Can you give me an example of your responsibility from a previous job?”
“Of course,” the applicant replied. “At my last company, whenever there was a problem, they always said I was responsible.”
The manager paused for a moment, a bit confused, before deciding to move on. “Okay… Let’s try another question. What would you say is your greatest weakness?”
The young man thought for a second and then said, “Honesty.”
The hiring manager frowned. “Honesty? I don’t think honesty is a weakness at all. In fact, I consider it a great strength.”
The young man leaned forward and replied, “I don’t really care what you consider.”
