Two friends, Tom and Jerry, were having a coffee. Jerry noticed that Tom seemed unusually cheerful and a bit tired.
“You seem to be in a good mood,” Jerry commented. “What’s going on? You’ve been posting all these pictures online. Last week it was a surprise bouquet of roses sent to your girlfriend’s office. On Monday, you cooked her a three-course meal. Yesterday, I saw you bought tickets for a hot air balloon ride.”
Tom took a sip of his coffee and smiled proudly. “That’s right. I’m pulling out all the stops. I want her to feel like the most special person on the planet. I’m showing her how much I love and appreciate her every single day.”
Jerry was genuinely impressed. “Wow, man. That’s incredible. You’re making the rest of us look bad. She must be ecstatic. So, with all this effort, what in the world are you planning for her birthday next month? It’s got to be something truly spectacular to top all this.”
Tom leaned back in his chair with a satisfied look on his face.
“Her birthday?” he said. “Oh, this isn’t for her birthday. This is so she completely forgets that I crashed her car last week.”
