A man frantically called emergency services. “You have to help me!” he yelled into the phone. “There’s a monster on my roof! It’s enormous! It’s going to crush my house!”
The operator calmly replied, “Sir, please try to stay calm. Can you describe this ‘monster’?”
“It’s huge! Massive! Looks like some kind of giant insect, but bigger!” the man screamed. “It’s got these long antennae, and it’s making a strange humming noise!”
The operator tried again. “And you’re sure it’s on your roof, sir? Can you see it clearly?”
“Yes! It’s right there!” the man insisted. “It’s casting a gigantic shadow! Please send someone!”
A team of emergency responders arrived, sirens blaring. They carefully approached the house, looking up at the roof with binoculars, prepared for anything. They saw nothing.
The chief responder called the man. “Sir, we’re here. We don’t see anything on your roof. Are you sure you’re seeing what you think you’re seeing?”
“Of course I am!” the man shouted from his window. “It’s right there! Can’t you see it? It’s covering half the roof!”
The chief zoomed in with his binoculars, then slowly lowered them, a puzzled look on his face. He walked closer to the man’s window.
“Sir,” the chief said, pointing directly above the window, “that’s not a monster. That’s a tiny ant, crawling on your window, directly in front of a very large, full moon.”
