Marriage Counseling

A couple goes to a marriage counselor. The counselor asks the husband, “What seems to be the problem?”

The husband sighs. “Well, it’s my wife. She never listens to me. She always interrupts, and she never agrees with anything I say.”

The counselor turns to the wife. “Is this true?”

The wife shrugs. “Of course not! He’s always exaggerating. And besides, if he said something worth listening to, maybe I would!”

The counselor nods slowly, then stands up and walks over to the wife. He leans in close and whispers something in her ear.

The wife’s eyes widen, and she suddenly looks very thoughtful. She turns to her husband, a new expression on her face. “You know, dear,” she says, “I think you might have a point about the garage being cluttered. Maybe we should tackle that this weekend.”

The husband stares, completely bewildered. “What did you say to her?” he asks the counselor. “What’s your secret?”

The counselor smiles. “It’s simple. I just told her that if she fixes your marriage, she’ll get all the credit from her friends for being such a good wife. And if it fails, it’s all your fault.”
