Lost Tourist

A tourist was wandering around a busy city, looking completely lost and bewildered. He stopped a local who was rushing by.

“Excuse me,” the tourist said, “Can you tell me where I am?”

The local stopped, looked around, and then back at the tourist. “Yes, of course. You are right here.” And then he hurried off.

The tourist stood there for a moment, even more confused than before. He then saw a police officer and decided to ask him.

“Officer,” he said, “I seem to be lost. A local told me I am ‘right here’. Can you help me figure out where exactly ‘here’ is?”

The police officer smiled kindly. “Well, technically, the local was correct. You are physically located at this precise spot.” He then looked around. “More specifically, you are on Elm Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue, on the north side of the road.”

The tourist sighed. “Thank you, officer. That’s much more helpful than what the local said.”

Just then, the first local walked back by and overheard the end of the conversation. He stopped and said to the tourist, “See? I told you!”
