Experienced Hunter

An old and experienced hunter was walking in the forest with his young apprentice. The young man was eager to learn the intricacies of hunting.

“Great master,” said the apprentice, “you’ve been hunting for so many years. I want to be like you. What’s your secret?”

The old hunter smiled. “My secret is simple, son. I always listen to nature. The whispers of the wind, the songs of the birds… They tell you everything.”

The young apprentice nodded. “I understand. And how do you find the animals? Do you follow their tracks?”

“No, no,” said the hunter. “Everyone follows tracks. I find animals by talking.”

The apprentice looked surprised. “By talking? What do you mean?”

The hunter hid behind a tree and whispered: “Now listen carefully.”

Then, he made the most realistic chicken sound he could: “Cluck cluck cluck! Cluck cluck cluck!”

A few minutes later, a fox emerged from the bushes and walked directly towards where the hunter was hiding. As the fox approached, the hunter suddenly sprang out and caught it.

The apprentice looked on in admiration. “Incredible! You tricked the fox with a chicken sound! And what do you do when you hunt deer?”

The old hunter smiled again. “When I hunt deer? That’s easier. I just hide behind a tree and shout loudly: ‘Hey, deer! Come here, I’ll tell you a secret!’
