The Wisdom of the Ages

An old man was sitting on a park bench, quietly observing the world go by. A young, ambitious businessman, full of self-importance, approached him.

“Excuse me, sir,” the businessman said, puffing out his chest. “I’m a very successful man. I make millions, I have a huge house, fancy cars… I’ve achieved everything I ever wanted. But I still feel like something is missing. What’s the secret to true happiness?”

The old man, without looking up, calmly replied, “The secret to true happiness is to not compare yourself to others.”

The businessman scoffed. “That’s it? That’s your great wisdom? I was expecting something profound, something life-changing!”

The old man finally looked at him, a twinkle in his eye. “Well,” he said, “I was going to tell you about my yacht, my private island, and my personal chef, but I didn’t want you to compare yourself.”
