A family is gathered around a crackling fireplace on a cold winter evening. Snow is falling softly outside. The youngest child, a curious girl, looks out the window.
“Mom,” she asks, “why do grown-ups always complain about winter? It’s so beautiful with all the snow, and we get holidays!”
Her mother smiles. “Well, sweetie, winter can be a bit challenging for some. It gets very cold, and the days are shorter.”
Her dad, who is trying to warm his hands by the fire, adds, “And there’s a lot of shoveling snow involved, which isn’t much fun.”
The girl thinks for a moment. “But isn’t there anything good about it for adults?”
Her mom nods. “Of course! We get to drink hot chocolate, wear cozy sweaters, and spend more time indoors together.”
“And what’s the worst part, really?” the girl presses.
Her dad sighs dramatically, looking at his wife. “The worst part about winter,” he says, “is when you realize you’ve used up all your excuses to avoid going to the gym!”
