Wedding Gift Dilemma

A young couple is at their wedding reception, happily opening gifts. They come across a particularly large and heavy box, beautifully wrapped.

“Oh, I wonder what this could be!” the bride exclaims, her eyes wide with anticipation.

The groom struggles to lift it. “It’s definitely heavy. Maybe a new kitchen appliance? Or a really big set of dishes?”

They carefully unwrap it, and inside they find a brand-new, top-of-the-line washing machine.

The bride looks at it, then at the card. “It’s from Aunt Mildred,” she reads. “And she wrote, ‘Dearest John and Sarah, I hope this brings you many happy years together. And remember, a good marriage is like a good washing machine: it works best when you sort things out and don’t let the dirt pile up!'”

The couple looks at the washing machine, then at each other.

The groom chuckles. “Well, that’s… practical advice, I suppose. But I was really hoping for a toaster.”

The bride grins. “Don’t worry, darling. I’m sure Aunt Mildred included the receipt. We can always exchange it for something that will truly clean up our act!”
