Mom’s Driving Advice

A young man is learning to drive, and his mother is giving him a lesson. They’re on a quiet street, and he’s doing pretty well, but he’s a bit nervous.

“Alright, dear,” his mom says calmly from the passenger seat, “now you’re approaching a stop sign. What’s the first thing you do?”

The young man slows down, gripping the steering wheel tightly. “I… I look both ways?”

“Good!” his mom encourages. “And then what?”

He stops at the sign. “Then I check my mirrors?”

“Excellent!” she replies. “Now, what’s the most important thing you do before you proceed?”

The young man thinks hard, trying to remember everything from the driving manual. “I… I make sure the road is clear?”

His mom leans over and pats his arm. “No, sweetie. The most important thing you do is turn to me and ask, ‘Mom, where do you want to go for lunch?'”
