An elderly grandmother had received a new smartphone from her grandchild. Her grandchild explained how to use the phone, the apps, and the internet. The grandmother listened carefully to everything.
A few weeks later, her grandchild came to visit her. The grandmother was sitting with the phone in her hand, with a bewildered expression on her face.
“Grandchild,” said the grandmother. “This phone is really smart. But there’s one thing I don’t understand.”
Her grandchild smiled. “What is it, Grandma? I can help.”
The grandmother held out the phone. “Look,” she said. “This ‘Maps’ app. It shows me how to get anywhere. It’s great!”
Her grandchild nodded. “Yes, it’s very useful.”
“And this ‘Weather’ app,” the grandmother continued. “It tells me if it’s going to rain tomorrow. Wonderful!”
“Absolutely,” said her grandchild.
The grandmother took a deep breath. “But grandchild, this ‘Banking’ app…”
Her grandchild looked on curiously. “Yes, what about it?”
The grandmother whispered: “It tells me how much money I have. But why doesn’t it tell me why I have so little money?“
